      Making Every Case Count

      In response to the global COVID-19 crisis, Sysco donated 30 million meals across 8 countries with 80% consisting of fresh produce and dairy products.

      How We Delivered

      Cases for Communities

      When communities across the nation were in need, Sysco responded by leveraging its vast network of broadline and specialty companies. Frontline heroes around the company in every state banded together, working tirelessly to package and deliver products to Sysco’s Feeding America food bank partners and other local charitable organizations. Sysco’s broadline and specialty companies, including SYGMA and FreshPoint, donated a total of 24 million meals across the U.S.

      Take Out To Give Back

      To provide healthy and nutritious meals in underserved communities while promoting the restaurant industry during the COVID-19 global pandemic, Sysco launched the Takeout To Give Back campaign, which encouraged the public to order food to-go, for delivery or through gift card purchase and post it to social media, tagging the restaurant. For every post, Sysco donated 50 cents to No Kid Hungry, a campaign run by Share Our Strength, a non-profit working to solve problems of hunger and poverty in the U.S. and around the world. At the end of the campaign, Sysco donated a total of $150,000.

      Fresh is Best

      During a time when grocery stores around the country were running low on inventory and families didn’t have easy access to fresh food, FreshPoint stepped up to donate cases and cases of fresh produce and fruit to people in need in the communities where they operate. The Sysco specialty produce company donated a total of 4 million meals worth of much-needed fresh produce to communities in need across the U.S.

      Foodies Unite

      Sysco Canada donated over 5 million meals to organizations like Second Harvest and Breakfast Clubs Canada as part of the Foodies Unite campaign. The program, launched in March, leveraged its supply chain to provide services to the retail grocery sector, help restaurant customers adapt to the current rapidly evolving environment and provide meals to those most in need.

      Global Giving

      Sysco’s International Businesses contributed nearly 1 million meals across Europe and Latin America to support those most impacted by the pandemic.
